Business & Entrepreneurship

In the first year of my bachelor, I followed the USE learning trajectory ‘New product marketing’. Over the three courses in this learning trajectory, I learned about marketing strategies. We had to read the book ‘Foundations of Marketing’ written by Faye & Jobber. This book goes into detail about the theory behind marketing.

When I was in my 2nd year of the bachelor, I followed the course ‘Introduction to business in design’. The course introduction to business in design is like the name suggest an introduction course. It covers the basics on how to implement marketing strategies and the protection of your product. The main thing I took away from this course is how to search, use and apply for patents.

In my third year I followed two business courses. One was “business processes’ from a different faculty. This course focused on the production process. I had never done anything like this before at my own faculty, and therefore the course was quite challenging. I learned how a production process can work and how to make it more efficient. The other course ‘Design Innovation methods’, was a step by step process through a business model. This thought me how to make a business model for a product or service.

The use learning trajectory, together with the other courses followed, helped me understand what goes into a successful product, and what to think of when bringing it to the market.
